Bax called. He is officially out of the desert and could not be happier about it.
He rolled into the Kennedy Meadows General Store (the thru-hikers unoffical start of the Sierra and the End of the Desert) and kissed the porch. There is a photo - I'll post it as soon as I get the camera card. He plans to make a voice post sometime Monday afternoon. There is no cell reception there and only one pay phone. It typically has a deep waiting list - which is why he called me at midnight. The voice post will also involve filk - don't say I didn't warn you.
The last couple of days have been very hot and dry, broken up by a high-speed car ride and an extremely local flood. Bax also reports that he has lost all fear. So there you go - the desert does change a man. He also says his morale is much higher and he's looking forward to heading into Yosemite.
