Daily Random Thoughts
(via LoudTwitter)
  • 10:19 I just handled a phone call from a potential customer who says he has Windows 95 and a 300 bps modem. As far as I can tell, he was serious. #
  • 21:29 Back from service call. Me: 45 minutes of Internet config. Him: Jerry Mander book, tinyurl.com/3ppdql. I may have won on the deal. #
  • 22:18 Kady just pointed out that our plecostomus Boing is nestled in a hollowed zucchini shell. She quips, "A pleco and his greens: a love story." #

The URL as presented doesn't work -- the period on the end stops it from pulling up Amazon.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think I can edit it on Twitter, but I fixed it here.

Also useful for staying under the SMS/Twitter character limit is tiny.cc, which is exactly the same as tinyurl.com but with a lower letter count.

That book sounds neat. Also, I hadn't gotten it into my head until now that your fish survived, so yay for that.

Yes - after the initial carnage described in the vacation post, the rest of them pulled through. It was a big relief.

We're still at a 9" pleco, three clown loaches (I may buy more of them to bring the school back to a comfortable size), and gupp33s breeding like mad.

I'm trying to remember if you can even do a shell account usefully on a 300 bps modem. I think the answer is "sort of if you don't ever use anything visual, like vi". Yikes.

I think the vt100 terminals were 300 baud initially, so the answer is yes.
