California recall breaking news
OK, so most of you have probably heard about Arnold Schwarzenegger pulling a 180 and joining the candidates in the upcoming recall of Gov. Gray Davis.

But just an hour or so ago, California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, Davis' right-hand man, just broke ranks with his boss and also announced he's going to become a candidate. You heard it here first, unless you heard it somewhere else.

With both Cruz and Ahnold in the race, this is a completely different ball game. Both parties now have huge name-recognition candidates. And any sane political forecaster will now say that (A) Davis is utterly dead; (B) this is going to quickly turn into a two-person race between the two big shots, with the possibility of third-party spoilers sneaking up from behind; and (C) the ongoing political circus has just taken a turn for the nasty, since the partisan lines have been very clearly drawn.

In short, I think California is fux0red. But it's no big deal -- that seems to be SOP 'round here. (*cough, cough* energy crisis *cough*)

Okay, so Schwarzenegger is in the race. Why not? The Governor is trying to get himself listed as a replacement.

Coming next, the movie classic "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World".

Um ... they already passed the budget, last week sometime. So if it was going to happen it's already happened.

Can't be any worse than having Jesse Ventura as governor of Minnesota.

That guy has quite the resume...

Well, Ahnuld can't follow in Reagan's footsteps, anyway. Not without a Constitutional amendment, and if they try that, I am moving to Canada.

There goes the neighborhood.

A pity, because I really like California, and now I'm having second doubts about staying.

Frankly, the Democrats were nuts to try NOT having a big name on the ballot in case Davis loses the recall. If they didn't and he lost, they would have just given away the election. I just hope they get the one month delay so we don't have to have a special election one month before a regular election.
