OK, WTF?
A piece of spam that just landed in my inbox, verbatim:

ANTI-MYOPIA GLASSES

Anti-myopia Glasses composed of prisms and lenses is and instrument
to alleviate myopia. There is a close relationship between convergence
and accommodation. The prism makes losts of effect toward convergence
in order that it can make the two opotic axes diverge. The lens which
is relative to accommodation mainly focuses the seeing objects on
retina. Therefore, this Anti-myopia Glasses can make the user get much
more remedial time instead of near sight time. The rays in eyes form a
close object are changed into from far object through two Anti-myopia
Glass pieces. Thus from the view of potics,Anti-myopia Glasses make
the eyes looking far when the eyes seeing the near object. It's useful
10-55 years old people. It can reduce your degree of myopia and eyes
fatigue.

... seriously, WTF?

As far as I can tell, the only claim the spam makes is that if you bend light outside the eye with "prisms and lenses", it can compensate for visual difficulties in the eye. Which, uh, is what glasses do in the first place.

It's spam working on the principle that anything standard and normal and inexpensive can sound like something you should pay very large amounts of money for when it is explained in technical terms that people are not familiar with.

On the flip side, I'm not sure the broken English helps the case any.

I'm wondering if someone got ahold of a semi-technical explanation for how glasses work, then put it through a BabelFish type translator and spammed the result. Yikes. The results read very much like "TIME CUBE"...

What I can't help wondering, however, is whether people who would be fooled by that ploy would actually know what myopia is to think that "anti-myopia glasses" would help them. I've been near-sighted for about 75% of my life, and I never encountered the term myopia until I was in late high school or early college.

I think they may be trying to imply that use of the glasses could improve your overall condition, that is, make you less nearsighted over time.

Reading through the Engrish is giving me a headache (perhaps I need some anti-Engrish glasses?), but as near as I can tell, they're not making any claims that a perfectly normal pair of prescription lenses wouldn't make. Reducing eye fatigue is just a function of not having to strain to focus to compensate for a badly shaped eye; prescription lenses perform this correction for you so that your eye muscles don't have to.

... but Engrish is so amusing ...

(I think I've spent too much time around some of my friends when I suddenly come up with "all your glass are belong to us" ...)

I imagine that these "glasses" are about a foot thick and weigh more than your head normally does.
