Links to liven up your boring weekend

Before I get started, I'd like to thank y'all for the writing problem suggestions. It was all great food for thought. In the end, I decided to borrow from a master, and experimented with the suggested Alfred Bester-esque solutions; my writing is included below the fold for comments, criticism or praise.

So now all I have to do is work ergoaggrandizetingoscillolarifficociousnessosities into the story somewhere. ];=8) A definition wasn't provided, but from the word roots, my best guess is it means something like "things that increase the work involved in behaving as though one is experiencing the joy of being kissed." A sample sentence is left as an exercise for the reader.

Anyway! A few more random links gleaned from this week's Web surfing:

* Find out what evolution has cost the human race. (Text possibly NSFW but clinical; no naughty images)

* In case you ever wondered how to fairly flip a rigged coin or get a 50/50 proposition resolved over the phone, here you go.

* Poisoned nipples! (It's not what you think. And it's great advice. NSFW only if the word "nipples" or others like it sets off content filters.)

* And I can't believe Marilyn Manson -- Marilyn Manson! -- has beat me to the altar.

And here's the text version of the scene:

There was no time to think about it. Just the sword's chant filling his
senses, and the last of his consciousness clinging to a faint thread of pride
-- that even as worthless as he was, he could still save some innocent person's
life from the sword's bloodlust. By the time self-preservation instincts
kicked in, a jerk of his wrist had already set the blade in motion --

his skin parted with little resistance,
                   and the dam broke.
                      . . . . . .
                         YES! NO!
                          a voice a voice
                               exploded
                              in in
                         despair triumph
                        ringing roaring
                           through between
                                  his
                              ears head
                            as he as he
                             spiraled into
                                darkness
