Voice Post: Mojave behind, more walking ahead

“Hey, everyone. I am back out of Mojave -- having caught a ride from a wonderful bunch of folk. I believe it was .... aargh, I'm forgetting their names already. It was a gal named Heather, I think, and her boyfriend and younger brother.

But I am going to continue on from here and head on north. Because it seems like, pretty much, as long as I control the symptoms of the giardia, then just having it in my system isn't really troubling me much. I would really rather keep making the time north, and let it work its way through, and just medicate it when I can. In the meantime, if I keep on hiking north, then Kady can meet me in three days and drive down to Walker Pass.

So I'm going to try to get out of here and make some good time up this next stretch. Which will also have the nice unintended side effect -- actually, very much intended side effect -- of getting out of the desert faster, and into the Sierra. So I've got that to look forward to.

Just loaded up at a nice all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet for dinner, and I am going to be on my way again [garbled by wind].

One neat little thing that I got in Mojave while I was at the store -- the Stater Bros. market -- I spent 50 cents on one of those little sticker vending machiness out near the exit, and I just got the perfect little motto for my trip: A sticker that says "I consider 'on time' to be when I get there." It is definitely going on my pack. That is going to be one of the neatest little pack ornaments that will probably be in my possession.

Anyway, hope to catch up with y'all down the trail, and I will update as updates become appropriate.”
