Conventions!
Finally back home and settled in after the tail end of Further Confusion. A big wave of the paw to dracana, kinkyturtle, and perlandria, all of whom I met at the con. The rest of you will have to come next year, especially since Aetobatus is already plotting some evil and nefarious scheme to drag me into an as yet undefined but persumably important staff position, so that I can get even less sleep over the course of the event than I did this year.

Full con report to come later, probably in my journal (this isn't my journal, it's my LJ). In the meantime, a question.

How many of you -- if any -- plan to attend PantheaCon (different month, different fringe, same hotel)? perlandria has me intrigued, especially the bit about "Iron Priestess Discordia," who participates in just about the most bizarre and curiosity-provoking Iron Chef take-off I've ever heard of. Thing is, I'm going to feel out of my social depth if I don't know anyone there, and I'm still trying to shake a (probably totally undeserved) bad mindset about the sort of panels I'd see there, so I'm still looking for a solid reason to go. Response here will probably be the determining factor in whether I try to show up overnight, for just a token appearance, or not at all this year.

(For the record, I will, as usual, be at BayCon this year, though plans are a little shakier than usual because I haven't really gotten to talk with the current newsletter head yet. Whoever that is.)

Thank you muchly. :) Being able to file taxes WITHOUT going through the f'in hassle of getting them to keep resending the W-2 would be a welcome change. Every year I've worked with them, they've screwed the form up somehow, or not gotten it to me at least once.

blackfyr and I are doing a BoF on Friday night at Pantheacon. We're needing to find a way to get a room without a major credit card, though, which bites. A roomie situation would be best to save funds. It's been so long since we tried setting something like that up we're very rusty at it, though.

That's cool that you'll be there. I'd look forward to meeting you there, except it is *extremely* likely that I'll be working both those days and that my con attendance would be Sunday and/or Monday. :/

What are your impressions of the con, and is there anything there in terms of programming or events that would be a sufficient draw IYO for a first-time visitor?

I'm very glad to have met you as well. :)

I'm afraid, though, that I'm something of a social wallflower, whatever clicking we did notwithstanding. Being in a convention full of total strangers with no close friends to tail is a bit off-putting. I'll keep an open mind and see how I feel that weekend, but if I had to make a decision about Pantheacon today, it would probably be no.

Which doesn't mean that I can't find an excuse to visit the Bay Area once in a while. ;) I've got roots there. And, of course, I'm planning on Baycon.

Well, as of the January meeting, that would be me.

I will admit to hoping that you would be there, since you're currently the sum total of my staff. On the plus side, we're getting equipment this year.

Congratulations on your promotion, if appropriate. ];=8)

Please take this reply as my official request for staff enlistment. Keep me informed of BayCon meetings and/or Publications meetings, if you can; if we've got any on Sundays, I might even be able to make it in to one (gasp, shock).

And you've got my current e-mail address, right? Given that I'll be driving to the con this year for the first time in a while, I can even bring Stuff with me if need be, although if we're getting con equipment, that may be less of an issue.

Hope you enjoyed the convention, I'll be waiting to read how it was!

I might make it to a con in, oh, ten years or so. Not very likely in the near future...
