Further Confusion
It's getting to be that time of year -- when I waffle around about conventions as I remember that scheduling time off from small-office jobs is hard. But FurCon!!1!one is coming up in three weeks, I generally have fun when I go, and I reckon at least a guest appearance is in the cards if I can justify the drive.

  • Is anyone attending looking for a (weekend) roommate, or does anyone attending/in the San Jose area have a spare bed/couch? (This is probably the biggest factor in how long I stay.)
  • Who else is planning to go, and should I set aside some hanging-out time?

FC Questions meme (via summer_jackel)

Where are you staying?
Milky Way Galaxy, Sol system, third planet, V-shaped northern continent, antispinward side, political region named "California" by locals, south side of large central bay.

Where will you be most of the time during the days?
Hanging out with friends, randomly wandering, or possibly in the gaming room. I'll post my cell phone number in a friends-locked post right before I leave (or e-mail it to anyone who otherwise needs it).

Who will you be with?
Seeing as how I'm not bothering to get my act together until early January, I haven't yet decided! Now accepting bribes of witty conversation, non-chocolate candy, space in an actual bed, or horrible puns. I promise I'm a cheaper pick-up than Rod Blagojevich's Senate seat.

Do you do free art?
If you're willing to put up with this kind of crap, sure.

Do you do trades?
I'm a much better writer than an artist, but if you want to trade in either category, I'm game.

Do you do commissions?
Should someone actually want such a thing, I'd be all for it. Has anyone ever actually commissioned a story, like, in the entire history of the fandom?

Do you have prints/ CDs ?
Not this year ... though hopefully, by the time next Furcon rolls around, there may just be printed copies of Legend of Hero available. :)

What suits will you have?
None, alas. Perhaps someday I can dragon out.

What is your gender?
Pretty thoroughly male. But, y'know, the good parts of male. Like a penis-having thing but without the football and beer and pointless self-aggrandizement.

How old are you?
25 - 1.

How tall are you?
6'4" (1.93 m).

Can I touch you?
Yesbut: No tickling, for everyone's safety and happiness. I have been known to take it as an attack and strike back.

Can I talk to you?
... um ... what the hell kind of question is this? "No, I'm at the con to stare at all the little people." Of course you can talk to me! It's what the whole damn thing is about!

Can I buy you lots of drinks?
Um, good luck. :) I dislike soda, coffee, and alcohol, but if you can find something I'll have more than a single glass of, feel free.

Can I give you lots of money?
In all seriousness, if money is burning a hole in your pocket, there are going to be plenty of people at the con much more in need of a helping hand.

Can I hug or snuggle with you?
I accept hello/goodbye hugs, even from strangers. Further touch is negotiable, though I abide and will gently enforce the usual common-sense rule of "ask first."

Are you nice?
Not to be immodest, but my niceness is the stuff of legend, dude. I've worked tech support for three years straight and still think humanity is generally good. I defuse trolls. I am a drama black hole. Well, actually, that's a bad analogy because it implies I draw drama toward me. Macrophysics has no good analogy for the sort of instinctual drama avoidance I possess. Darn you, physics!

While my interest in FurCon itself is approximately nil, we can probably procure couch-space for you should the need arise. (Modulo me double-checking with the wife, who is our official Social Affairs administrator, natch.) We're in an apartment in eastern Santa Clara, in the middle of the 101-880-237 triangle - <10 minutes from the Doubletree, depending on the lights.

That would be cool! If I don't hear anything in the next few days from someone attending the con, I'll drop you a line.

You want to get together sometime over the weekend, whether the couch drop works out for everyone or not? I could set aside a meal time or some random socialization.

If you're available, yes, certainly, that would be sublime. I know that time is something of a precious resource and social calendars often get mightily compressed during con time... but if you're able to carve away a free hour or two for socializing purposes sometime during your stay? Consider me totally on board!

... That's actually pretty spiffy, as drama analogies go. I really should have thought of it, especially considering it's on a post talking about FurCon. Thanks!

I'll have to make sure people don't confuse it with Drama Drama Duck, though. Which is apparently something completely different.

You are a drama dampening field. ;)
