Signal boost: Boston (or elsewhere) roommate search
eredien, a 29-year old queer genderqueer woman who lives in Boston (who I've known via dragon circles for forever), is moving out by month's end and needs a geek-friendly roommate:

I'm still job and apartment-hunting. ... I'm willing to relocate to other places - though it might be easiest for me to stay in Boston currently (preferably near Teele Sq or Alewife), I in fact wouldn't mind relocating from Boston, and I've applied to jobs in Chicago and DC.

For more roommate details or to pass along leads, check her post.

I can't help with housing, but I had a question on your term usage.
I've never been sure what "genderqueer" actually means. If a person is genderqueer, does that mean they consider themselves a different gender than what their body is? Would a queer genderqueer woman be a bio female, who feels like a man, and dates men? Or would that be a bio man who feels like a woman, and dates women?

It's kind of vague in abstract, the same way that "Otherkin" can mean anything from "I sometimes behave in dragonlike ways" to "my soul is reincarnated from a dragon's", depending on who you talk to.

In this specific case, I would defer to Eredien's description of herself ("queer genderqueer woman" is her own phrase). "Genderqueer" in abstract is probably best read as a modifier to the other terms, meaning "my gender identity is complicated".

I'm very amused there's a neighborhood (?) in Boston called Alewife.
