Okay, the Bush poetry was bad enough, but then I continue combing the Associated Press wire for work -- and now this:
Karl Kling, 48, is angered by claims that the actor groped women on movie sets and elsewhere, calling them vicious attempts to ruin Schwarzenegger politically. "It's the women who should be accused of sexual misconduct against him," Kling said. "Who wouldn't be happy to be touched by such a superstar?" (emphasis mine)
Remember, the "misconduct" in question that women should be "happy" about is alleged to include, but is not necessarily limited to:
  • grabbing three women's breasts;
  • reaching under one woman's skirt and grabbing her buttocks;
  • trying to remove one woman's bathing suit in a hotel elevator;
  • pulling one woman onto his lap and asking whether a certain sexual act had ever been performed on her.

Current Mood: enragedenraged
Current Music: Going back to "Cat Town - The Pie" for another hour or two

I'd say something amusing and distracting, but I'm just as shocked and disgusted as you.

Please leave your sanity at the door.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

It could be worse. He could be running for Governor of Florida.

Mixed article; nice to hear Arnold was so anti-Nazi, but the guy's attitude about women (gym owner)....explains a few things.

I'm ashamed the "Nazi" thing has been getting any press coverage at all. It doesn't speak well of the press corps.

The original evidence for "Arnold's a Nazi" was this: Someone reported that they had received an advance copy of a book, in which Arnold was quoted, back in 1970, as saying that he was impressed by how Hitler rose to power over an entire nation out of such humble beginnings. (As perspective, I'm impressed by how Bush managed to steal the election and wrest control of the civilized world away from anyone who would actually use that authority responsibly, but that doesn't mean I like him.) The story was a non-starter in the first place, exactly the sort of rumor-mongering Schwarzenegger's now denouncing all the claims with.

Sexual harassment, on the other hand: Six people went on the record as claiming specific acts in specific circumstances over a period of three decades (and five more after the original story broke). Arnold never admitted anything specific -- that's political suicide -- but he must have felt endangered enough by the truth that he apologized for his behavior very publically. There is real meat to this (no pun intended; I'm sorry).

I want to slap the Democratic National Committee for focusing on the "Nazi" thing. They're drawing attention away from issues that do matter, just because the fake smear campaign reduces to a soundbite better ("Nazi" vs. "groper") -- no matter that they'll look like utter fools if the truth ever propagates. STUPIDHEADS. We need an effective opposition party, not a histrionic one.

One caveat here, is that all 6 of those womn were approached by the LA Times, and not a single one of them went to the police or local autorities.

Now, what he did was wrong in so many ways, but I think it's unfair to say that they matter should be bandied about in the papers if the alleged (and I do say alleged for a good reason) victims didn't feel violated enough to go letigious on his 'roid-monkey ass.

Does he do it anymore? Don't know, and personally don't care. I also don't want him to be Governor, but that's because it would be impossible to listen to a public address with a straight face. I can hear the cries from the uadience now, "Say 'tumor'!"

As for Kling... that fucker deserves to be strung up...

It's funny that certain men consider themselves such intelligent beings but when it comes to the issues of sexual misconduct and rape they can't control themselves if a woman wears anything slightly revealing or is slightly playful around them. The truth is, no fashion or behavior, no matter how idiotic, is grounds for sexual misconduct if they DON'T WANT IT.
