Okay, that last thread might be a little difficult to follow. So I'm not even going to try. Instead I'll just introduce you all to Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel.

[waterskiing squirrel picture] Twiggy is here to be random and give you something distracting to look at while I wave my hands and do slightly less entertaining things behind the scenes.

Such as: Admit defeat on friends list updating. There's probably two dozen people reading this journal (or at least who have me friended) that I haven't even noticed. I'm not very good at keeping up with my friend-ofs, because I tend to assume that anyone who wants attention back will speak up and engage me in conversation at some point. It doesn't always sink in that these people might be doing the same thing I am, and sticking to their own journals, where they assume they'll be talked at.

So -- if you're reading this, and I don't comment in your journal at least occasionally, please say hi. Tell me one interesting thing you've discovered or done in the last 48 hours. Or ask me a question. Or posit some interesting piece of philosophy. Or maybe just give me an alfredo sauce recipe.

(By the way, Twiggy says SQUEEK!)

And if you've added me as a friend and I haven't reciprocated, introduce yourself! I probably just haven't noticed you, or noticed you once and then forgot about it before going through one of my quarterly LJ sprees. I don't mean to ignore you; I'm just such a flake. ]B=8) (And you all love me for it, I know.)

As one parting thought: dreamflow now wants a ninja springbok icon, apparently. Any (furry?) artists out there feeling demented and philanthropic?

How the world works:

You don't run away from home to go to school just because you feel bad bout being caught stealing pens, food, lighters, pocketknives.. and when you are walking down the road and the sheriff stops you and asks you to come along voluntarily - you don't resist and try to run and find yourself arrested. Or else you get your probation invoked and find yourself in detention for a few days.

Green? Golden.

Because human perception is inherently flawed, and one's consciousness can only interact with the world through one's flawed perception, it is impossible to Know-capital-K anything. If there is an objective Truth, it's not possible to tell.

It is possible to have working hypotheses about shared reality (assuming you also have the working hypothesis that other consciousnesses exist out there), but you can't Know.

Well, um, hello! I really don't talk much, as I rarely have anything I want to say. I have been lurking around Tomorrowlands and other draconity forums for a while. I'm also horrible at introductions, which could be a contributing factor in my silence, and I'm going to sneak back into hiding now.

Hi

Hi there :) You don't know me, but your draconity FAQ was a major positive influence on me at a time when I was in a Bad Way. But I tired of alfandria and the draconity mailing lists because it was so noisy and so crowded. (Also, I felt that those places had a 'support-group' type of atmosphere. A support group is a good thing, but it's not what I was looking for.)

So, thank you (belatedly) for writing an important and useful document that has improved my life, and I suspect the lives of others as well.

Hello. I follow your LiveJournal and Tomorrowlands journal occasionally (the latter more than the former). I haven't friended you; nor have you friended me. I am also mildly afraid of you. I also have very little to say.

Hey.

I know you and I have friended eachother, but we don't talk much. So I'm just here to say that I still exist. Thanks!

BTW, are you considering my proposal or not? The E-mail I sent to you? Just wondering.
