Going for the meme
Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does.

To quote ceruleanst, "I have to pick just one?" He and I share "Gorillas in the Mix" by Bernie Krause and Human Remains, so no dice, but let's throw out a few others off the top of my head: "Mood Calico," Yale Alley Cats; "Hindesight," Jim Hinde; "Traveler," Kevin Harris; "Threshold," Spinning Glass. I'm also confident nobody else owns either the "Riven" or "Final Fantasy Tactics" soundtracks. I've got over 800 CDs; need any more examples? ;)

I'm also one of a very few people to have necama's CD of piano music, but he's on my friends list, so all I can do is mention how neat it is. ;)

Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does.

"The Truth About Dragons" by Hazard Adams. If not, then "Poo-Poo and the Dragons" by C.S. Forester (1942), so hard to find it apparently isn't even listed on Amazon. Nyeah.

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does.

Actually, I believe I can't; my collection is puny. kadyg already claimed my "Dragnet" episodes (a gift from my sister). My next and probably last hope is "Animalympics" but I know too many furries to count on this one.

No! Wait! Worth a shot: "Duel to the Death", cheesy kung-fu flick I reviewed here a while back and am too lazy to find the link for.

Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has.

The peak of Mt. Matterhorn -- near Yosemite in the Sierra Nevada, not the one in Europe.

... Saco, Maine? No, tropism visited me there once.

... Inside the emergency room of Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, near UC Santa Barbara?

Three strikes, I'm out.

Name a piece of clothing that no-one else on your friends list has.

A bright purple jacket with a yellow "Wyvern" logo, won as a prize from the collectible card game's makers at a convention.

Name an occupation that you've had that no-one else on your friends list has had.

None. If I remember correctly, roaminrob's been a game-store clerk, necama's been a copy editor; dancinglights (who owes her LJ name to me ;)) is a programmer; and ssthisto is was a librarian. Aside from temping that covers it, unless I split hairs and say I'm a paginator rather than an editor now, but people like lysana may have that covered anyway.

Small correction - Ssthisto _was_ a Library Assistant. Ssthisto _is_ unemployed.

Cool. :) Good music, are they not?

What about the Vagrant Story OST?

Oh, very good music. I used to use the Riven soundtrack as low background music for my high-school Call of Cthulhu campaign - just the right kind of mysterious background noise, if you were only half-listening to it. I forget the other CDs that were in that mix, though if I got at my physical CD collection I could probably pick them out pretty quick.

And you've got me with the Vagrant Story OST - I don't have it. :)

Oooh. Yeah, Riven's very ambient that way. Should I ever have occasion to GM or play a CoC game I'll have to remember that.

Given that context, can you believe I used to put it in my CD player as I was going to bed, and fall asleep to it? ]B=8D (Still do sometimes, actually.)

Oh, sure I can believe that. Once upon a time, when my stereo was in the same room as my bed, I did the same thing myself. :)

Thank you. It's been a while since I did one of those, hasn't it? I'm working on a bunch of hammered dulcimer material right now, and hope to have it done by Christmas.

And yes, I've been a copy editor.

You'll probably nuke my replacement as well. I'm running out of places. Here on Earth, anyway.

"The Truth about Dragons..." that was the one made to be the personal log-book of a modern dragon, wasn't it? I don't own it, I glimpsed it in a library once. School library, naturally.

I am clueless and curious about "Poo-poo and the dragons." o_O??

That's the one.

"Poo-Poo" is a children's novel about a young man, who is in fact nicknamed Poo-Poo, and what happens to him (and his wonderfully supportive parents) after he finds an egg in his backyard one day that hatches into a very friendly and inquisitive dragon.

Who wrote that book? The first, I'm saying.

I've been to Tilden Lake in Yosemite, and hiked at Hetch-Hetchy. Mentioning this for no particular reason at all...

Hazard Adams, who is a lot more well-known for his lit-crit than his novels, and who is far more well-known for his other novels than this one. It's a good book, though.

I've never actually been paid to do desktop publishing. You'd have to throw in bits like taxicab dispatcher to start touching my odder occupation set.

How'd you fall into the job for west coast conventions, then? Just curious.

Sorry about this, but I've been inside Goleta Valley Hospital's emergency room. My freshman year, I got severely dehydrated, and student health sent me over there for treatment.

I guess you're right -- I'm nixing your replacement as well. :)

...and the name suits me well indeed, despite (or because of?) its terribly geeky origins. Thankee.

I keep trying to do this meme, but I'm beginning to think I'm just a unique combination of completely non-unique things when it comes to this stuff.
