When borrowing from merely six cultures isn't enough
Kady and I have figured out what we believe to be a strong contender for the ultimate fusion food dish:

Sweet-and-sour chicken-fried tequila-lime tofu ravioli vindaloo flambé

At that point, it's not so much haute cuisine as postcuisine. The cooking of the FUTURE!

Anyone else out there feel like one-upping this creation, or suggesting accompaniments for a full four-course postmeal? :)

Actually BAX figured out the ultimate fusion dish. I just didn't um, talk him down.

*Hangs head in foodie shame and goes off to stir risotto*

Would that even be edible? Pasta isn't usually fried, or flambé. Would anyone notice the sweet and sour bit under the vindaloo? And just whom could you persuade to actually try it?

Some value of edible

I think it would be as I've had deep-fried ravioli and it was good. However - that doesn't necessarily apply here.

If you had sweet and sour for the dip, the vindaloo as part of the ravioli stuffing and....eh, I'm putting way to much thought into this.

Oh wait, now I remember - the tequila was my idea because we needed something that would catch on fire for the flambe.

Huh Tequilla-flambee -- that's a very interesting idea. Usually flambee is with brandy. Those could definitely be pretty tasty.

Hmm, for side dishes, you might consider chipoltle wasabi quince yam roulades, and banana kashi dal tvp and gruiere wrapped in grape leaves.

Hey - I have an idea for a testing facility for such a divine dish. Con any US Army mess hall into making it, and aside from screwing it up, they'll be able to provide test results back through medical channels as to just what the hell happened to their bodies.

Heck, I think we could blame a fusion dish like this to have started the Changes in Tlands... :)
